How quickly can you get to me?
It depends on where you are and which fitters are free at the time. When you contact us we check live availability and give you an honest arrival window before anything is booked. Same-day call-outs are often possible, particularly in West London.
Do I need to be with the car?
Not always. If we can reach the car safely and you leave the locking wheel nut key where the fitter can find it, we can usually work while you're at your desk or indoors. We'll agree the arrangements with you when you book.
Where can your fitters work?
Driveways, residential streets, workplace car parks and retail car parks, as long as the ground is firm and level and it's safe and permitted to work there.
For your safety we can't work on a motorway hard shoulder or any live carriageway. If you're stopped there, get yourself somewhere safe and call your breakdown provider. Once the car has been moved to a safe spot, we can take it from there.
What's included in the price?
The price we quote covers the tyre, fitting, wheel balancing, a new valve, disposal of your old tyre and the call-out. It only changes if something turns out to be different from what we were told, such as a different tyre size on the car. If that happens, we talk to you before doing anything.
Which tyre brands do you fit?
We fit new tyres from recognised manufacturers, in premium and mid-range options. If you want a particular brand or model, tell us when you book and we'll source it where we can. We don't fit part-worn tyres on TyrePilots bookings.
Can every puncture be repaired?
No. We follow the British Standard for tyre repairs, BS AU 159. A repair is possible when the damage is small, sits in the central part of the tread and the tyre hasn't been driven on while flat. Damage near the shoulder or on the sidewall means the tyre needs replacing, and we'll show you why.
Do you fit run-flat tyres?
Yes. Most vehicle and tyre manufacturers advise against repairing run-flats, so where one is damaged we'll quote a replacement. Let us know your car has run-flats when you book so the right tyre is sourced.
What's the legal minimum tread depth?
In the UK it's 1.6 mm across the central three-quarters of the tread, all the way round the tyre. Driving below it can mean a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points for each illegal tyre. Many drivers choose to replace tyres at around 3 mm, because stopping distances in the wet lengthen noticeably as tread wears.
What happens to my old tyres?
We take them away and they go for recycling through licensed waste routes. Disposal is included in your price.
How do I pay?
Payment details are confirmed with your booking, before a fitter is sent out. You'll always know the total first. Business customers can apply for an account with invoiced billing.
What if something isn't right after the job?
Get in touch straight away. Your booking is with TyrePilots, so we deal with it, not the fitter on their own. If there's a problem with the work, we'll put it right. Tyres also carry the manufacturer's own warranty against defects.
